Gareth Edwards’ Rogue One finally has a new trailer, and it features the biggest villain in the history of Star Wars: Darth Vader himself. The clip, which promises epic action, great characters and a gripping (though familar) story, features the first teasing glimpse audiences have had of Vader since 2005’s Revenge of the Sith.
Set before the appearance of Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa and Han Solo, Star Wars: Rogue One finds the Rebel Alliance in its infancy and facing mass odds against the colossal Galactic Empire and its terrifying commander Darth Vader. When the rebels stumble upon the plans of the mysterious Death Star weapon, it’s up to a crack team and reluctant new recruit Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) to infiltrate the base and steal the plans before it can become operational.

Directed by Gareth Edwards (Godzilla), Rogue One, is the first in a series of Star Wars spinoff films that will expand the scope of the Star Wars universe, and explore exciting new stories.
The return of Vader has been rumored almost since news of standalone Star Wars films first broke, and it’s great to see that the legendary James Earl Jones has returned as the voice of Darth Vader.
Star Wars: Rogue One will be released in cinemas on December 15 in Australia and New Zealand and December 16 in the US and UK.
