Move over Lorde – Hip hop artist Kings, the man responsible for the most infectious tune of 2016, is coming for your crown and he’s doing so in a big way.

KINGS single ‘Don’t Worry ‘Bout It’ has now broken the record of longest-running #1 on the New Zealand Artists Top 20 Singles Chart. The record was previously held by ‘Magnets’ by Disclosure featuring Lorde but Kings’ track, which been sitting at the number one spot for an incredible 27 weeks (and counting), surpassed it last week.

s“There’s no question Kings had the biggest local chart hit of 2016, peaking at #5 on the Official Top40 Singles Chart and spending the entire second half of last year in the chart. It’s a testament to the song’s enduring appeal that in that time no other New Zealand release was able to get past ‘Don’t Worry ‘Bout It’” says Recorded Music NZ Chart Compiler, Paul Kennedy.

KINGS released his, self-titled, debut EP in November last year, after winning Breakthrough Artist of The Year at the 2016 Vodafone NZ Music Awards. His most recent single ‘Some Day’ has received exceptional support and the accompanying NZ On Air funded-video is due to be released shortly.
