Hot off the heels of the release of their new album Wolves, four-piece punk rockers Rise Against have announced that they will be showcasing their new, politically-charged album by heading to New Zealand in February 2018 with SWMRS, who will be visiting New Zealand for the very first time.
The two shows will take place at Christchurch’s Horncastle Arena on the 17th, and Auckland’s Logan Campbell Centre on the 19th.
Rise Against are no strangers to little ol’ New Zealand – their last visit was in December 2015 following their support slot with Foo Fighters earlier in the year, and since then they have been extensively touring, making their name even more well known across the world. It is likely that the Auckland show, at least, will allow them a more intimate venue and a change of pace, and we can’t wait to have them back.
Frontman Nick McIlrath has emphasised that Rise Against shows are a safe space for their fans, as well as promoting a place that is intolerant of injustice – these are sentiments that are heavy on Wolves, which does not shy away from the chaos following the U.S. election of 2016.
Accompanying Rise Against are the Oakland locals, SWMRS, who are punk rock through and through. Their last album, Drive North, was produced by frontman for FIDLAR, Zac Carper, and is, expectedly, heavily doused in angst.
You won’t want to miss either of these stellar bands live, as we are so short on punk rock in New Zealand as it is…
Pre-sales for their Auckland and Christchurch shows start on the 13th and 14th of July, and general sales start on the 17th of July, which can be found here.
