When the news of Chester Bennington’s death broke, I spent the whole morning thinking about the impact that Linkin Park had had on my life. They’re probably the band that got me into rock music, and Minutes to Midnight was the first album I ever remember crying over. His death has left such a huge hole in the music industry, not least because he spent so much of his life inciting strength and hope in others. I’ll never feel right about the fact that that hope didn’t quite reach his own heart.

The band has put out a video for One More Light, taken from their recently release of the same name, and it’s a stunning tribute not just to Chester, but to the impact that he had on his fans and his bandmates. The clip shows the joy he brought to those close to him, and those that viewed him as an inspiration, and while it hurts to watch, it is also beautiful to see what light he did bring to the world in such a short amount of time.

One More Light was written with the intention of sending love to those who lost someone. We now find ourselves on the receiving end. In memorial events, art, videos, and images, fans all over the world have gravitated towards this song as their declaration of love and support for the band and the memory of our dear friend, Chester. We are so very grateful and can’t wait to see you again.”
