A thousand young hopefuls have taken to the stage across Auckland over the last month in Auckland Council’s Stand Up Stand Out 2018 (SUSO) – Auckland’s premier secondary school music and dance competition.
Now Aucklanders will watch the emergence of the stars of the future as the finalists go head-to-head following yesterday’s semi-final round. Finalists from five categories: solo vocal, group vocal, solo instrumental, band and dance will compete for a share of $6000 worth of prize money.
Finals night will feature a special guest performance from Onehunga hip-hop collective SWIDT, winner of Best HipHop Artist 2017 at the Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards.
“It’s wonderful that Stand Up Stand Out can support these students in taking what they do to the next level and that Aucklanders have the chance to see them perform.Council has organised this event for fourteen years and we’re looking forward to continuing in the future.”
