Following on from yesterday’s anticipation for #MCRXX, My Chemical Romance released a short film titled “A summoning…” on their YouTube channel. The 13-minute film summarises the band’s entire theatrical career as the main character escapes from Draculoids (Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys, 2010) and has an encounter with the Demolition Lovers and Helena (Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge, 2004).
Packed with easter eggs, the film is a wonderful trip down memory lane and a nod to all the summoning memes from the past seven years, however there is still no sign of new music on the horizon (although with this band, who knows). Instead, the video ends with the announcement of an 18-date North American tour spanning September – October of this year. The announcement comes days after a 5-city European tour was announced for June – July, including a third date in Milton Keynes, UK due to overwhelming demand.
Luckily the wait for New Zealanders is a lot shorter, with the band due to appear on our shores March 25th, following two appearances at Download Festival in Australia. To quench your thirst for more My Chemical Romance content, we suggest looking back at their reunion show in December 2019. With a setlist spanning their entire career (it’s good to hear Our Lady of Sorrows live again) we have so much to look forward to.
