We’re big fans of a Netflix binge here at The Speakeasy, and as winter rolls on it’s the perfect time to find a warm place to watch your favorite shows and movies on the most popular streaming service on the web. What’s new on Netflix in August? A whole lot of exciting stuff.
First and foremost is the debut season of Marvel’s The Defenders, which pulls together the heroes from all of the comic book studio’s popular original series on the streaming giant for one powerhouse new show. Those less interested in action and more interested in a laugh will be excited to hear that Netflix’s Wet Hot American Summer TV series returns mid-month, this time taking place 10 years after the iconic comedy film.
If you’re looking to watch some stand-up, there’s plenty of laugh-worthy new content coming to Netflix in August, including comedy specials from Lynne Koplitz, Maz Jobrani, and Ryan Hamilton.
On the film front, the streaming service launches a few exciting titles this August, including a live-action version of popular manga series Death Note, as well as Naked, a Groundhog Day–esq story of a man who relives the same day over and over again — starting with waking up naked in an elevator.
As usual, August marks the end of the streaming road for many shows and TV series on Netflix. Things to catch before they get kicked to the curb include Superbad, Dope, and the first seven seasons of The League.
