The feminist punk group (AKA badass chicks) Pussy Riot have released a new music video for Police State that protests police brutality, which interlaces images of Tr*mp and P*tin, as restrained children watch them on television screens (yes, it’s very unsettling).

Aside from the policewoman, played by Chloë Sevigny, everyone in the video is wearing the infamous Pussy Riot balaclavas, and the video features commentary on elements of Russian society – notably, the ballerina dancing amongst debris, and the concept that individuality and vulnerability is punished.

While the video for Police State might seem confronting, it’s quintessential Pussy Riot, who have always been fearless in their challenging of societal boundaries and holding their institutions to account. The group have also been unabashed in their distaste for the current U.S. Administration, with one of the group’s most famous activists, Nadya Tolokonnikova, most recently speaking out about the similarities between Tr*mp and P*tin’s leadership styles.

In this era of women expressing themselves as wholeheartedly as they would like, Pussy Riot are welcoming the revolution with their unfailing persistence in protesting injustice.
