New Jersey’s Screaming Females hit Dunedin for the last date of a whirlwind New Zealand tour this Saturday. As anyone can tell you, eyes are often focused on Marissa Paternoster, who plays with a magnetic energy yet bassist, Mike ‘King Mike’ Abbate and drummer Jarrett Dougherty keep the set tight. The trio have been playing together for well over a decade, and as the set progressed seemingly effortlessly, it really showed. The hour-long set came to an end far too soon for the crowd, who pled for an encore, but given that it was fucking freezing in Dunedin, you really can’t fault them for calling it a night.

Supporting Screaming Females were Dunedin locals Milpool and Wet Specimen.
